Retail Store Associate

Job Summary

We are looking for a friendly, knowledgeable, and customer-focused Retail Store Associate to join our team. This role involves assisting customers, maintaining store operations, and ensuring a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience. Job Schedule:

• Availability is required on weekends and working hours between 10 AM and 9 PM.

Job Responsibilities

• Customer Service & Hospitality:
  • Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance with cigar selection.
  • Educate customers on cigar brands, strengths, and pairings with beverages (if applicable).
  • Offer a premium lounge experience by ensuring comfort and addressing customer needs.
• Sales & Product Knowledge:
  • Upsell premium cigars, accessories (cutters, humidors, lighters), and memberships.
  • Stay updated on cigar trends, new arrivals, and special releases.
  • Guide customers through tasting notes and cigar-smoking etiquette.
• Lounge & Store Maintenance:
  • Maintain a clean and organized retail area and lounge space.
  • Ensure proper cigar storage conditions in humidors and cabinets.
  • Set up lounge seating, ashtrays, and maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
• Cash Handling & Transactions:
  • Operate the POS system, process sales, returns, and exchanges.
  • Manage cash and card transactions accurately.
  • Handle loyalty programs, memberships, and discounts where applicable.
• Event Support:
  • Assist in executing cigar tastings, pairing events, and VIP gatherings.
  • Provide event guests with product recommendations and ensure a smooth experience.
• Loss Prevention & Inventory Management:
  • Monitor inventory levels and restock as needed.
  • Prevent theft and ensure all cigars are stored securely.
  • Assist in receiving, inspecting, and pricing new stock.
• Compliance & Safety:
  • Enforce age verification policies and follow state regulations on tobacco sales.
  • Ensure ventilation systems and smoking areas comply with safety standards.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Retail, sales, or customer service experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (entire shift).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. (stocking shelves, handling inventory).
• Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping to stock and retrieve products.
• Comfortable working in an environment where cigar smoking is permitted.

Skills & Qualifications

• Cigar Knowledge: Understanding of brands, strengths, flavors, and pairing suggestions is preferred but we are willing to train.
• Customer Service: Friendly, patient, and able to engage in casual yet professional conversations.
• Sales & Upselling: Ability to recommend cigars and accessories based on customer preferences.
• POS & Cash Handling: Experience with retail transactions and maintaining accurate records.
• Hospitality Mindset: Creating a relaxing and enjoyable environment for guests.
• Attention to Detail: Maintaining proper cigar storage conditions and lounge cleanliness.
• Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a social, customer-focused environment.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and special events.
